Troubleshooting
Many issues can be narrowed down with a few reliable checks.
Activation fails
Check the Internet connection. When registering with an e-mail address the address must first be activated via the link in the confirmation message; also check the spam folder. If the activation service is unreachable, a notice appears at the top of the window and netPDF retries every ten seconds.
A page looks different than expected
If a PDF contains fonts that are not embedded, netPDF uses a suitable substitute font from your system. The tracking (character spacing) is preserved. For distribution we recommend PDF/A, which embeds all fonts.
The e-invoice is reported as invalid
The findings come from the invoice itself, not from netPDF. Save the validation report and send it to the invoice issuer. It contains the rule numbers that allow any invoicing software to assign the error.
Search returns no results
Scanned pages contain no text, only an image. First run text recognition (Document → Recognize Text (OCR)). Under Linux netPDF requires the package tesseract-ocr with the appropriate language.
Ask the microAI
F1 opens the help chat. Ask in your own words, for example “How do I rotate a page?” or “What is an XRechnung?”. The microAI responds with the relevant help section or an entry from its knowledge base on e-invoicing, PDF standards and prepress — with source, in the configured language and only locally. Follow-up questions like “and under macOS?” refer to the previous question. Shift+F1 opens the full help.
Report a bug, send an idea or feature request
In the Help ribbon you will find Report bug, Send idea and Send feature request. The submission is sent as a support case to Net-Base; only the version, operating system and the most recently executed commands are included — no documents, passwords or license keys. For an unexpected error netPDF opens the same dialog.
Contact support
Write to support@net-base-software-gmbh.de. State the netPDF version (under File → Info), your operating system and the steps leading to the error. Do not send confidential documents or real invoices without prior consultation.
