Key deep dives into this topic
Location and approach
Freiburg and the Black Forest as a visible part of our working approach
Net-Base Software GmbH from Freiburg im Breisgau – we modernize and maintain existing enterprise software so that it becomes maintainable, integrable and reliable in operation.
For more than 30 years we have worked on applications that must hold up in everyday use: with clean architecture, controlled evolution and technical responsibility across analysis, implementation and operation.
- Focus: understanding, structuring and sustainably modernizing existing systems
- Typical topics: architecture, portals & services, integrations, databases, hosting/support
- Collaboration: direct, traceable, without agency detours
Our location in Freiburg is not decoration but part of how we work: short distances, clear communication and a calm start to complex projects. From here we work for companies in the region and across the DACH region – on-site when required, often efficiently remote.
- Short coordination: clarify technical questions early, document decisions
- Respect for the existing system: read and understand first, then renew selectively
- Technical sustainability: sensible modernization instead of costly complete replatforming without domain benefit
We believe in software that lasts longer than a release cycle. For us that does not mean “slow”, but structured: first understand architecture and data, then improve step by step – with measurable results in operation.
- Technical responsibility instead of a loose agency model: we take architecture decisions and own them
- Incremental modernization: reduce risk, protect ongoing operations
- Maintainability & operations: consider performance, stability, monitoring and support
- Clear communication: fewer slides, more traceable decisions
- An evolved application (Desktop/Web/Service) is domain-critical but technically hard to maintain
- Delphi/.NET/SQL-based systems need modernization without losing domain knowledge
- Interfaces, portals or services must be cleanly integrated and operable in the long term
- A team transition is due: code takeover, documentation, stabilization, further development
- Hosting/deployment/monitoring have evolved historically and should be made more professional
If you recognise several points here, a structured inventory check is often the quickest entry point.
For more than 30 years we have supported enterprise applications that must carry daily operations. From that has grown a clear technical line: understand first, then structure, then extend in a controlled way – and take responsibility in operation.
Origin: desktop applications, databases and real-world processes
Further development: REST-servers, Windows- and Linux-services, portals, licensing/registration logic, hosting
Today: multiplatform, integration, database refactorings and long-term support – technology-agnostic, but architecturally strong
What matters to us is not the buzzword, but a structure that endures in operation.
- Inventory: code and architecture review, data model, dependencies, risks
- Target picture: architecture plan, interfaces, operations concept, roadmap in sensible stages
- Implementation: incremental, testable, with clear deployments and rollback strategies
- Handover/operation: documentation, monitoring, support and continuous development
This way the domain logic remains usable while the technology becomes stable and future-proof.
Part of our work is directly visible under Net-Base, other parts run via products, platforms and partner companies. Here we show selected environments in which our technical work has become visible over years:
- netScope – (brief note to add: what it stands for, which role Net-Base?)
- Additional platform/partner – (one sentence each: benefit/technology/responsibility)
Important: in all cases we assume technical responsibility – from architecture through further development to operation.
Do you only work in Freiburg?
We are based in Freiburg, but work for companies across the DACH region – depending on the project remote or on-site.
Do you also take on third‑party code?
Yes. We typically start with a structured inventory to define risks, dependencies and a sensible modernization path.
Which technologies are typical?
We frequently work with Delphi, C#/.NET, web portals, services/REST, databases and integrations – always with a focus on maintainability and operations.
Do you also provide operations and support?
Yes, depending on the setup: from a defined support model to hosting/monitoring and continuous development.
Would you like to clarify whether your system can be sensibly modernized? In a short initial conversation we will give you a first technical assessment: which steps are low-risk, where a cut makes sense, and how operation remains stable.
Next step
If you have a specific modernization, API, or platform question, we should define the technical scope early and precisely.
Net-Base evaluates existing systems, data paths, interfaces and target platforms not in isolation, but in the context of domain logic, operations and future expansion.
- Current state, target state and technical risks are assessed jointly.
- REST, data access, portals and rollout are not deferred to later phases.
- You can see early which path is economically and operationally viable.
