Fill and create forms
netPDF fills PDF forms directly in the page view and turns a printed form into a fillable one.
Filling a form
- Open the form and choose Home → Select.
- Click into a field and enter the value. Checkboxes and radio buttons are toggled with a click; drop-down lists open.
- Save the document with Ctrl+S.
netPDF performs calculations and validations within the form itself: totals are recalculated, amounts and dates are formatted, invalid entries are rejected. The scripts have no access to files or the network. XFA forms from authorities can also be filled out.
Detect fields automatically
Edit → Detect fields searches all pages for writing lines, rows of dots, empty boxes and table cells, checkboxes and circles for ticking as well as rows of boxes (for example for the IBAN) and creates appropriate fields there. The form lines remain visible; the adjacent label is used as the field name.
Create custom fields
- Choose Edit → Add field and draw a rectangle.
- Choose the type: text field, multi-line text field, checkbox, radio button, combo or list box, or a button.
- Enter the field name and, if needed, a default value, required flag, number format or a calculation.
Edit field, Delete field and Tab order adjust existing fields. Export data and Import data exchange values as XFDF or FDF files.
Flatten fields
Flatten fields writes the values permanently into the pages, for example before you hand the form on. The fields are no longer fillable afterwards. If you want to keep the fillable original, save the flattened form to a new file with Save as ….
