E-invoicing mandatory since 2025
Test ZUGFeRD, read XRechnung, convert formats – without additional software.
Since 2025, companies in Germany must be able to receive e-invoices. netPDF automatically detects embedded invoices, validates them against the European standard EN 16931 and the national rules, and displays the result directly next to the document. And if the recipient requires a different format, netPDF converts the invoice – for example XRechnung to ZUGFeRD or vice versa.
- Compare pages and XML – for ZUGFeRD and Factur-X netPDF checks whether the same numbers, data, parties, IBAN and amounts appear on the PDF pages as in the embedded XML, and shows each discrepancy with both values
- Convert – every e-invoice to another format: XRechnung ↔ ZUGFeRD/Factur-X, UBL ↔ CII, Peppol, FatturaPA, Facturae and more; the result is validated immediately
- Convert PDF to e-invoice – detect invoice data from a standard PDF invoice locally (no cloud), verify and supplement it with locations in the document, export as XRechnung or ZUGFeRD; fields outlined in red show what needs checking, including invoices without VAT (small business, Reverse Charge); scanned invoices are read by the OCR under Windows, Linux and macOS

On first start netPDF opens the „Register netPDF for free“ window with the sign-in page of Net-Base – no code to type. Sign in or register with your email address and password and confirm the link in the e-mail. Sign-in with Google or Microsoft opens in your default browser for security reasons.

netPDF detects the activation automatically, closes the window and starts with all features for 30 days. After that choose Free or Pro; additional details such as address are requested by the customer portal only when placing an order.

What does netPDF cost?
After free registration all features are free for 30 days. After that netPDF Free remains permanently free: view, print, annotate, edit text and pages, fill and create forms, validate e-invoices. netPDF Pro with all features costs €99 one-time per workstation (introductory price €79 until 31.12.2026) with 12 months of updates; five workstations cost €449 (introductory price €349). No subscription, no advertising.
What happens after 30 days?
netPDF continues to run as netPDF Free without further action; your documents remain unchanged. netPDF Pro features remain visible and indicate on click to which group they belong. A Pro license purchased in the customer portal is assigned to your account and automatically activated in netPDF.
Why do I have to register?
Registration starts your trial, links the Free or Pro license to your account and ensures you receive updates and security notices. For a local registration an e-mail address and password are sufficient; you confirm the address via a link. Your PDF files never leave your computer.
Can I validate e-invoices with netPDF?
Yes. netPDF reads ZUGFeRD and Factur-X (all profiles), XRechnung in UBL and CII, Peppol BIS Billing as well as other European formats such as FatturaPA, Facturae, ebInterface, KSeF, ISDOC, Finvoice and OIOUBL. The validation follows EN 16931 and presents findings clearly; for ZUGFeRD and Factur-X netPDF also compares the visible pages with the embedded XML. You can save a validation report.
Can netPDF generate ZUGFeRD invoices?
Yes. From an XRechnung or another XML format netPDF generates a human-readable visual representation and embeds the invoice as ZUGFeRD/Factur-X into a PDF/A-3. You can also associate an existing PDF with an XML invoice.
Which PDF/A variants does netPDF support?
netPDF converts documents to PDF/A-1, PDF/A-2, PDF/A-3 and PDF/A-4 (levels a, b, u as well as 4e and 4f) and validates existing files against the respective variant. The validation rules are aligned with the rules of the veraPDF reference validation.
For which operating systems is netPDF available?
netPDF is available for Windows 10 and 11 (64 and 32 bit), for Linux 64-bit as DEB, RPM and TAR.GZ packages, and for macOS on Macs with Apple Silicon from version 12 as a DMG. The macOS build is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple and launches without additional approval.
Does netPDF have an AI?
Yes: the microAI, the first model of the AI family netAI from Net-Base. It answers questions via F1, reads PDF invoices and converts them to ZUGFeRD or XRechnung and learns from your confirmations. It runs fully locally, offline and without a GPU; invoices, names, amounts and queries do not leave the computer.
Are my documents uploaded?
No. netPDF operates entirely locally. Documents, invoices and validation results remain on your computer. Only for registration, update checks and — while enabled — sharing what the microAI has learned (only weight changes and template structures without content) does netPDF establish an encrypted connection to Net-Base.

Note for macOS: The DMG is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Open it and drag netPDF into the „Applications“ folder; macOS will then launch netPDF without any further approval.
The Windows installers are signed with the Authenticode signature of Net-Base Software GmbH and include a timestamp. Each Windows and Linux package is installed on Windows, Ubuntu and CentOS before release, subjected to over 200 UI checks, and then uninstalled; the PDF library undergoes more than 1,400 automated tests.
