Install netMail
How to install netMail on your computer and receive future updates.
Windows
- Open the netMail download page.
- Choose Windows 64-bit. Only older 32‑bit systems require the other build.
- Run the downloaded setup file and choose the desired installation folder.
- Complete the setup and start netMail.
If you are unsure whether your system is 32 or 64 bit, open Settings → System → About. Under “System type” you will find the appropriate build. An existing netMail installation will be upgraded; accounts and local data are retained.
Ubuntu and Debian with APT
Open the Terminal application and run these commands one after the other:
wget -O netmail.deb https://reg.net-base-software-gmbh.de/downloads/netmail/linux-x64-deb
sudo apt install ./netmail.deb
Linux will ask for your system password. No characters are displayed while you type; this is normal. The package configures a signed package source. This allows your package manager to update netMail later together with other programs.
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
To update only netMail after sudo apt update, run sudo apt install netmail. The technical package name is currently netmail; the application menu entry appears as netMail.
Fedora and other Linux systems
There is an RPM package for Fedora and related systems. The TAR.GZ build is intended for manual installation. Prefer DEB or RPM where possible so that updates are delivered automatically via the package manager.
macOS on Apple Silicon
- On the netMail download page select macOS Apple Silicon and open the downloaded DMG.
- Drag netMail into the Applications folder.
- Start netMail from the Applications folder.
The macOS build is published only as a Developer ID–signed and Apple‑notarized DMG. No additional approval of unsigned software in System Settings is necessary.
